The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras started life as a protest march in the 70s and today has turned into one of the most fun and vibrant events Sydney and Australia has to offer. You’ll need to arrive early if you want a front row seat along busy Oxford St, with between 500,000 and 600,000 people from all over the world watching the parade and partying along, so it may be easier to try towards the end of the parade or look for cheap paid seating or parties along the way.
